Can't believe I didn't blog at all in 2022 - must get back in to the habit. I've been in the cabin at least 3 days/week for going on 2 years now, so I thought I'd give an update as to how things are going. It's become more homely... I have moved my musical instruments out there, along with some wall decorations and various birthday presents. You will spot the celebratory bottle on the top of the bookshelves, and please ignore the axe on the desk (I was using it as a hammer on this particular occasion... The yellow light bulb is a limited edition frame from the video "Where good ideas come from" (long story - paid for a licence to use a different still in an article and didn't use it in the end, but the company were grateful that I pointed out several illegal versions of their video on YouTube). The map is from Tomas. The owl is a painting by the guy who did an awesome birds of prey display on our holiday last year. The shots below show touches from Abby (fossil from 60 million years ago, given for my 60th birthday), Freddie (dreamcatcher for my window) and Tomas (Labradorite stone that catches the light awsomely in different situations). Oh yes, and as the odds of me playing my trombone again are getting longer with each passing year, I decided to display it instead. You may see that the original oil radiator has been replaced by a heat pump. The radiator was OK, but the timer, automation, programming etc was a bit limiting. The heat pump is a LOT more efficient (i.e. cheaper), does both air conditioning for the summer and heating for the winter, but is very loud. I have it set to not go below 10 degrees and turn off over 15 degrees when I'm not in there, mostly because the guitar and harp are out in the cabin now. Only problem is that - as heat rises - the temperature below heat pump height is a good few degrees lower, so it's probably bottoming out at about 6 degrees. One day, I'll need to unwrap the harp to see if it's coping with the temperature...
