If you've looked at the "Possessions" page you'll know we went for an electric car as proof of concept back in 2017. At the time, we chose the modestly ranged Nissan Leaf Acenta, with a maximum working range of ~80 miles. I loved it. It was a great drive, well featured with lots of bells and whistles. While the native app was rubbish, for a time, a third party app was available that allowed us to check charge level, turn on the heating or air conditioning as required, and time the charging etc if we wanted to. You could also do all that from your "garage" on the Nissan website (once you found it, which was not at all easy). The car was great and proved to us that we wanted to stay electric.
When we were coming to the end of the PCP, we looked around at alternatives with the main objective of getting a greater range, so we could perhaps visit rellies in Surrey or Cambridgeshire, at least one-way. The initial front runner was the Peugeot, and we even went as far as putting down a deposit, but the main thing that was missing compared with the Leaf was the reversing camera, which given our aging backs is becoming a must have for future vehicles. The upgrade to that version of the car was getting beyond our budget, so we had settled on that with a sigh. Then we came across the MG ZS EV. Range a bit less (still allegedly twice that of the Leaf), but the spec was much better than the Peugeot and it was cheaper. It had satnav, a reversing camera, lane assist, adaptive cruise control etc, etc, etc. So we went for a test drive, then came straight home and asked for the deposit back on the Peugeot.
