![]() I've been in for over a week now and am getting used to things. Still not convinced that the heater is working the way it's supposed to though. We're trying to work out if the upper thermal setting ever cuts out, but hard when there's glorious sunshine pouring in the windows most of the time. I've rotated 90 degrees from the plan (as previously explained) and I now have my new chair, with moveable arms. I keep the left armrest up so it doesn't foul the desk return, but I have the option to put it down and release the recline lever if I feel like kicking back. Actually, this also works better with the shelves, because I can access the space at the bottom as well as the shelf space. The shredder fits perfectly below the window.
As to the heating, we've added a remote thermometer so we can check what's going on. We're using the pre-programmed pattern that's designed for you to be out all week and home at the weekends (not brave enough to try programming the bespoke setting yet) and that seems to be working OK for now. A couple of hours in the morning makes it pleasant when I first go in. Overnight isn't dropping below 14 at the moment, so though the evening setting is supposed to keep it between 18 and 22, it isn't kicking in (no idea why and at the moment it doesn't matter). I do have the frost setting on, which isn't supposed to let it drop below 5, but it's not getting anywhere near using that. It was VERY cold in the mornings the first couple of days I was in (it snowed on my first Monday), but since then, Spring has well and truly arrived. The LED lighting was OK, but a bit diffuse at desk level, so I got a monitor light (as in, it fits to the top of your monitor and throws light down towards your keyboard and hands). Sadly, because I have such a health and safety nightmare of a preferred working position (I always put everything back where it was once the H&S assessors have left...) when using the light as designed, it shines straight in to my eyes... so I point it up at the ceiling as an indirect lighting source and it works a treat. USB powered, so no requirement for an additional socket. I'm quite liking my she-cave...
