![]() Finally - a few days of clear weather with no rain forecast, and temperatures in double figures. Time to get out and at the office again so hopefully I can use it before we go back to the ... well ... office. Warm enough for outer layer removal, no less... ![]() We unwrapped the remaining wood pile to see it had remained wonderfully weather tight, despite the awful weather we'd had since it last saw the light of day. Even the two dodgy leftover roofboards that we left on the intermediate layer were only a little damp and dried quite quickly in the sun. I'm going to write that again... in the sun... Pretty straightforward job today with the floor boards. Dave was doing the scrabbling around on the floor with the nail gun and I was bringing the planks. I was slightly paranoid about the amount of time Dave's toes were spending pressed in to the suspended insulation boards, but once we managed to space the scaffolding boards better, it became easier both for him and the floor. Once there were enough boards to fit Dave's feet, it became easier and even warm enough to disrobe. Dave flipped around and progess was much quicker with the remaining boards. I think it's fair to say that a few of them were not entirely straight and took a little persuading to poke the tongue into the groove, and the spacers weren't always required, but overall, they were pretty good. We cut the last set of short insulation pieces (one of them three times - it really didn't want to go in) then put the last few boards down. I'd put aside two boards as having dodgy tongues (by which I mean really knotty or with mild damage) so we picked the best of those for the final trim. And hey presto! we had a floor. And even better, I wasn't going to be rolling into the garden in my office chair! Packed up for the day and are hoping to get some critical parts stained over the weekend, and the floor varnished. Haven't decided whether we're keeping the floor wood or using some kind of lino/flooring in there yet. Probably depends on how the varnish works.
